To be “in God” is to be a Christian.
The Bible teaches that we all have chosen our own way in life and have doubted the goodness and authority of God. The decision to trust in our own wisdom and goodness instead of God’s way is called sin and it separates us from God.
The only way to be reconciled or brought back to God is through faith in His Son Jesus who paid the penalty for our sin on the cross.
That’s it. That’s the Gospel or “good news.” We rejected an infinitely good God and we deserve infinite punishment but Jesus took the punishment for our disobedience and arrogance toward our Creator.
God’s glory is so important and His love for us is so great He offered His own Son to die for us. It is not “fair” but it is good news for those who have trusted in the perfect sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.
This “salvation” is a gift from God to anyone who repents (or turns away from) their sin and places their faith in everything that Jesus did at Calvary. If you have trusted in anything other than the payment Jesus made on the cross, then you have trusted in something that will not reconcile you to a Holy God.
The Bible teaches us all to “examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith.” At MVC we urge you to deal with Jesus on His terms. Have an honest conversation with God through serious prayer and repent of your sin.
Ask God to forgive you for living as if God “understands” and overlooks your sin.
Ask God to fill you with His Spirit and commit to following Him for the rest of your life.
Follow Jesus in His example of Baptism by emersion and publicly professing Him before the church and the world.
We at MVC will be glad to talk with your about your faith if you have questions. Here are some helpful links to get in contact with us or grow deeper in your relationship with Jesus
